NMPA certification itself does not include regular maintenance but does require ongoing compliance and periodic activities:
1. Post-Market Surveillance
- Monitoring: Manufacturers must implement a post-market surveillance system to monitor the safety and effectiveness of their devices. This includes tracking performance, reporting adverse events, and responding to issues.
2. Renewal and Re-certification
- Certificate Renewal: NMPA certification is not indefinite. Manufacturers must renew their certification periodically, typically every 5 years, and may need to submit updated documentation or data.
3. Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ongoing Compliance: Maintaining an ISO 13485-compliant QMS is required. This involves regular audits, internal reviews, and updates to ensure continuous compliance with standards.
4. Reporting Requirements
- Adverse Events: Report any adverse events or safety issues related to the device to NMPA in a timely manner.
- Device Changes: Notify NMPA of significant changes to the device or its manufacturing process.
5. Inspections
- Routine Inspections: NMPA may conduct routine inspections of manufacturing facilities to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards.
In summary, while NMPA certification does not cover regular maintenance, ongoing compliance, surveillance, and periodic renewals are required to maintain the certification and ensure the device remains in good standing in the Chinese market.
